Ongoing Journey in the life of a Personal Trainer & Raw Fooder

Life is getting busier, and has been somewhat complicated the past several years, since I became a personal trainer, and my husband was diagnosed with early onset (early age) Frontaltemporal dementia.

Although I'm still dedicated to my raw food lifestyle, (and having been 100% raw for over five years), I've started incorporating some steamed or roasted veggies into my diet a few times a week. I mostly choose veggies that I don't typically eat raw on a regular basis.  This adds variety to my diet and makes eating out with non-raw fooders a bit easier.

Because of my work schedule, and the chaos life has thrown at me, I've been remiss in publishing my online monthly fitness newsletter. I published it for 11 years straight and only missed a month or two, but the past 3 years I haven't published it.  I plan on correcting this very soon!

I'm also in the middle of a couple self-study personal training courses, which will give me more expertise in personal training niches and help my clients.

The past few months has been a hit or miss with the raw food potlucks that I host at the Loggerhead Park at Juno beach.  Because of lack of interest and the cooler weather we expect the next few months, I've decided to take a break from hosting these potlucks until the first Sunday in March.  If you have an interest, please contact me or visit the website at http://vivecapark.com/PBG-Raw-Food-Group/ for more details regarding these potlucks.

I have a couple of dedicated pages at Facebook, in addition to my personal FB page.  One has to do with dancing, which includes dance quotes and places where I'm going dancing in the area.  The second one has to do with personal training and motivational quotes, and the third one has to do with Inspirational and motivation quotes.  Below are those links:

Facebook Personal Trainer Page

Facebook Inspirational & Motivational Page

This is all for now as I'm expecting my next client any minute.  At least novw I've written my first blog here since August!

Personal Training Update

I haven't written for many months, but a lot has changed.  I no longer work at LA Fitness.  I now am training clients privately.

I train my clients at various locations, such as at a gym, in their homes, in their community fitness rooms, my place, outside (such as at a beach, a park at at a swimming pool).

I love what I do, and enjoy helping my clients get fit and get into better shape.  I do train clients of all ages, but I specialize in training women, baby boomers and seniors.

It gives me so much pleasure when clients tell me how much fun I make it. Some of them have never worked out in a gym before or ever had a set exercise routine.  They tell me how great they feel after a workout.

And since most haven't worked out regularly, or not at all, I take it slow and work methodically to help them get into shape without being in pain the next day.

In addition to having them do exercises to get stronger or to lose weight, I also incorporate exercise that help with balance and work the core.  This is so important for people as they get older.

When people take their fitness and health seriously by making exercise a regular habit, it helps them be more productive, be more functional, and will help them maintain their independence longer in their advanced years.

You can read testimonials from some of my clients at:

Right now I'm running a summer special since a lot of my clients are on vacation or up north during the summer months.

EXERCISE IS ONE OF THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR ANTI-AGING!!

Since I am also a raw food lifestyle consultant, I am happy to share information about the raw food lifestyle, if they ask.

After publishing this, and looking at the date, it reminded me that it is after midnight and now my birthday!  I am 62 years young today.

It has almost been 5 years since I began my raw food journey this time around.  Although many people tell me how hard it would be for them to commit to a raw food lifestyle, it has become a regular part of my life and I find it almost effortless.

The first nine months I lost 50 pounds.  At the time I began, I knew I needed to increase my weight training to keep from looking so skinny.  So, I stepped up my strength training.

I knew I had lost a little too much weight, so I worked at gaining back about 8 pounds.  I've been able to maintain this weight for the past four plus years.  I'm seem to hover between 112 and 117.

Recently I bought a bathroom scale for clients that I plan to train here at home.  Now, occasionally, I'll think to weigh myself first thing in the morning.  In doing this the past few weeks, I see that I'm maintaining at right about 116 pounds.  It is a good feeling to know that my body has gotten a set point.

I have now been training clients at LA Fitness for over 2 years and have some private clients I train in their homes or at their own community fitness rooms.  I've decided to also train some women clients in my home.

I purchased a Pilates Power Gym Pro to help with this.  I'm amazed at how many exercise machines it can replicate.  I've started doing some workouts on this and feel my muscles burning that I haven't felt at the gym.  Also, I feel muscles being used that I also haven't felt before (or at least not for a long time).

I'm going to use this to round out my own exercise routine.  It will add variety to my workouts, as well as give me the opportunity to exercise on days when I don't have the time or inclination to workout at the gym.  Since I work at the gym 6 days a week, when I'm done working, I just want to get out of there.  Now I'm able to exercise whenever I have the desire!

If you haven't already, you may want to check out my personal trainer website.  As of now, it
isn't complete (hardly started, in fact), but I do have some information there, and I have some good links you might want to check out.   http://www.vivecapark.com
